  • To power off, press and hold the power button again until the screen turns off. The device may also feature an auto-off function after a period of inactivity to conserve battery life.

7. Calibration

Regular calibration ensures the accuracy of your CM-224Auto gauge. The device supports both Zero-point and multi-point calibration.

7.1. Zero-Point Calibration

Zero-point calibration is performed on a bare, uncoated metal substrate (Fe or Al plate) to establish a baseline reading of zero thickness.

  1. Ensure the gauge is clean and free of debris.
  2. Place the gauge's probe firmly and flatly onto the bare ferrous (Fe) calibration plate.
  3. Press the "CALIB ZERO" button. The display should show "0.0" or a similar indication of successful zero calibration.
  4. Repeat the process for the non-ferrous (Al) calibration plate.

7.2. Multi-Point Calibration

Multi-point calibration uses calibration foils of known thickness to verify and adjust the gauge's accuracy across its measurement range.

  1. Perform Zero-point calibration first.
  2. Place a calibration foil (e.g., 100 µm) onto the appropriate bare metal substrate (Fe or Al plate).
  3. Place the gauge's probe firmly and flatly onto the center of the calibration foil.
  4. Follow the on-screen prompts or refer to the device's specific calibration menu to adjust the reading to match the known thickness of the foil.
  5. Repeat with other calibration foils (e.g., 250 µm, 500 µm, 1000 µm) on both Fe and Al substrates for comprehensive calibration.

7.3. Factory Reset

If you encounter persistent calibration issues or wish to restore default settings, use the factory reset function. This will erase all custom calibration data.

  • Press and hold the "MODE RESET" button for several seconds until the display indicates a reset.
  • After a factory reset, it is recommended to perform a full calibration before taking measurements.

8. Telîmatên Operating

8.1. Hilbijartina Yekîneyê

To switch between micrometers (µm) and mils (mil), press the "um/mils" button. The selected unit will be displayed on the LCD screen.

8.2. Modes Pîvan

The CM-224Auto offers two primary measurement modes:

  • SNG (Single Point Measurement Mode): For taking individual, precise measurements at specific points.
  • CON (Rapidly Continuous Measurement Mode): For scanning larger areas and obtaining continuous readings as the probe moves across the surface.

Press the "MODE RESET" button briefly to toggle between SNG and CON modes.

8.3. Automatic Base Material Detection

The gauge automatically detects the underlying metal substrate:

  • Fe: Indicates a ferrous (iron or steel) substrate.
  • NFe: Indicates a non-ferrous (aluminum or copper) substrate.
  • Fe+Zn: Indicates a galvanized magnetic surface, detecting the presence of zinc coating on a ferrous base.

Image: An illustration showing the Single Point (SNG) and Continuous (CON) measurement modes, along with the automatic detection indicators for Ferrous (Fe), Non-Magnetic (NFe), and Galvanized Magnetic (Fe+Zn) surfaces.

8.4. Pîvandin

  1. Ensure the gauge is calibrated and the desired unit (µm or mil) is selected.
  2. Select the appropriate measurement mode (SNG for single readings, CON for continuous scanning).
  3. Place the probe firmly and perpendicularly onto the coated surface you wish to measure. Avoid sliding the probe during measurement in SNG mode.
  4. The measurement reading will appear on the LCD screen. The device will also indicate the detected base material (Fe, NFe, or Fe+Zn).
  5. For continuous mode, gently slide the probe across the surface to get a dynamic reading.
  6. Take multiple readings in different areas to get an average thickness, especially on uneven surfaces.

9. Serlêdan

The CM-224Auto gauge is a versatile tool for various applications:

  • Automotive Inspection: Detect repainted or filled body panels and verify original paint thickness on used vehicles. The Fe+Zn function is particularly useful for identifying galvanized panels.
  • Car Detailing: Measure coating layers before polishing or applying ceramic coatings to ensure proper material removal and application.
  • Body Shops & Quality Assurance: Check paint uniformity and coating adhesion after refinishing work.
